JV PICKS UP 5TH WIN BY TAMING THE COUGARS

The Hilltoppers took on a Chatham team that historically has dominated the series on the JV level versus SHS.  Today was not part of that history as Summit led early and led big in a 25-12, 25-10 drubbing of the Cougars.

Nat Schluter kicked the Summit serving offense into gear with 4 service points to get SHS a 5-3 lead.  Katie Samay served 3 rotations later and had Summit up 12-8 after a few aces.  Meanwhile, the SHS offense was nearly error free, with Bella D'Ambrosi, Samay and Madison Young ketting key kills at key junctures of the game and not committing errors.

Taylor Thompson blew the game open with 7 service points (3 aces) to get Summit a 19-9 lead that was insurmountable for the Cougars.  Summit closed out game 1 with a 6-3 run driven by Schluter adding another 5 service points (9 for the game).

Game 2 was much of the same with Schluter tacking on another 8 service points (2 aces) to give the Hilltoppers a 10-2 lead.  This run was fueled by SHS's defense who produced numerous digs and transition points.  Samay made the Cougars pay for service errors by adding 5 more service points to her tally, leading Summit to a 19-5 lead.  Captain Maddie Young got Summit to within 1 point of the game and match with 3 service points and Nat Schluter closed it out as the Hilltoppers won this 2 game match in 8 rotations, utterly dominating the Cougars from the serving line and out of the front row.

JV will try to pick up their 6th win versus New Providence tomorrow.
