The JV Squad looked to improve to 7W-4L by beating the Cardinals of Plainfield and sweep the season series. SHS did not disappoint its fans as the team beat Plainfield 2-1 by scores of 25-8, 24-26, 15-1.
The match was decided from the service line and the Hilltoppers dominated Plainfield in that respect. Maddie Young hit for 5 aces to start game 1 and the team never looked back. Nat Schluter, Alisha McDonnell, Bella D'Ambrosi, Katie Samay and Taylor Thompson combined for another 6 aces to lead SHS past the Cardinals 25-8.
Coach Ross shook up his lineup for game 2 and although the team played a very competitive game, the Hilltoppers only hit for 3 kills which was the the difference in a game that saw SHS hit for another 10 aces, 4 from Thompson, 3 from Vanessa Elko and 3 from Katie Samay.
In the deciding game, Taylor Thompson ended her amazing day with a 14 service point performance (9 aces) that gave the Hilltoppers a 14-0 lead. This was the longest run of service points ever achieved by a JV player. The 14 total aces is also the most ever in the JV program. Congratulations to Taylor Thompson and the Hilltoppers for their outstanding win, the 7th in the 2015 season.
Summit is now just 7 wins away from tying the record for wins in the JV Program and is within striking distance from the best record ever -14W-7L- in the program.
