JV COUNTY RUN ENDS WITH LOSS VERSUS THE FARMERS

The 3rd time was the charm for the Union Farmer's as they came to Summit to take on the Hilltoppers in a #4 v #5 matchup in the Quarter-Finals of the Union County Tournament.  Summit had beaten the Farmer's in 3 both of the other matchups in the regular season and were looking for the trifecta on Friday but as had been the theme all week, the serving accuracy and ace production that the team normally relies upon was thwarted by great Union passing and the Farmers out hit the Hilltoppers from the front row to seal the fate of the Maroon and White 25-19, 25-19.

Summit managed only 9 aces versus the Farmers, a normally good number but not on a day where the opponent hit for 13.  The Union serve receive was exceptional, leading to many kill opportunities while the SHS receive was spotty, often surviving and yielding only free ball opportunities to the Farmers.  Sara Maldonado was again the only bright spot for the Hilltoppers as she had 6 of the team's 8 total kills for the match, a stat that also explains the final scores as Union out-killed SHS 14-8.

The team's record now stands at 13W-4L after a 1W-3L week.  The season record for wins and winning % was set last year at 16W-7L.  Summit has 5 matches left and needs 4 wins to break the record.
