ACADEMIC SUCCESS PUTS THE FINAL TOUCH ON A HISTORIC YEAR

USMC / AVCA TEAM ACADEMIC AWARD WINNERS
*HONOR ROLL DISTINCTION*

The 2022 Lady Hilltoppers Volleyball Team had a banner year on the court,  Mountain Division Champions -first time in 11 years-, Quarter-Finalist in County and State-Sectional Tournament,  Finalist in the Healing the Children Tournament,  hosted the largest Pink-Out event in program history and broke every school offensive record as a team while garnering local, state and regional recognition for certain individuals during the season.

But the biggest accomplishment of the squad was continuing the streak of academic success established by SHS Volleyball squads since 2015 in not only winning the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award (only 1 of 3 NJ teams) but also earning the additional Honor Roll distinction as one of the top 20% highest academic achieving high school volleyball teams in the country for the 3rd consecutive year!

The United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced today that 1,333 collegiate and high school volleyball teams have earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award this season. This marks an all-time record number of programs honored for their academic achievements. The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.  Teams that earn the additional Honor Roll distinction represent the top 20% of team GPAs in their specific division.

“The commitment our coaches make to help their student-athletes pursue the best versions of themselves is evident in the academic accomplishments highlighted today." said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "Achievement on the court has always been closely tied to success in the classroom which is reflected by the number of championship programs honored.”

A truly historic season for the Lady Hilltoppers!
