HILLTOPPERS FIRST OBSTACLE : PLAINFIELD

In the last 3 years, Summit has experienced a great deal of success against the Plainfield Cardinals.  The Hilltoppers are 5W-1L against this Union County opponent, their only blemish coming in 2012 in a 2-1 defeat on the road.

Summit opened the 2013 season with a 25-11, 25-16 win on the road versus the Cardinals and picked up another win later on in the season at home with a 3-set win by scores of 25-19, 24-26, 14-25.

The Hilltoppers used their serving offense to win both matches, hitting for 22 aces combined in the wins.  Cassidy O'Malley was the offensive driving force in the last match in 2013 versus the Cardinals, pounding out a season high 9 kills in the match.

Summit has a daunting start to a busy September, playing 5 matches (3 are division matches) in 7 days before playing in Scotch Plain's Saturday Tournament on the 13th.  The following week offers no relief for the Hilltoppers as the team will have 4 matches in a 7 day span (2 division) and will be playing in their next Saturday Tournament at Morristown Beard on the 20th.
